RE:       WSJ Article on Abuse at Apparel Makers in Jordan

Please see today's Wall Street Journal article on the widespread sexual abuse of young woman worker at Wal-Mart and Hanes suppliers in Jordan. The abuse has been going on for years with scores of women brutally violated.

A delegation led by Charles Kernaghan of the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights and Tim Waters of the United Steelworkers Union will return from Jordan tomorrow, June 21. We will release a devastating testimony of a young Bangladeshi woman who was violently raped by Classic Fashion's general manager Anil Santha, who also bit her.

We believe that Classics Fashion's owner, Sanal Kumar, was aware of the sexual abuse. GLHR had also alerted Wal-Mart and Hanes of sexual abuse at the factory, but they chose not to act.
